Dr. Atmanand has made significant contributions in academia, administration, and industry, with a focus on research, policy formulation, and educational leadership. His extensive experience and initiatives in institutional building and education is his strength.
His distinguished career spans several high-profile positions, including Director at MDI Murshidabad, Director Additional Charge at MDI Gurgaon and Pro Vice Chancellor at SGT University, Gurugram.
He has also contributed significantly to corporate governance as an Independent Director at Central Bank of India, Steel Authority of India Ltd. and Power Trading Corporation of India Ltd. His extensive experience has enhanced his leadership skills, institution building and policy making.
Dr. Atmanand's work experience extends beyond academia into significant corporate and policy roles. He served as an Independent Director at Power Trading Corporation of India Ltd. from 2018 to 2020, at Central Bank of India from 2017 to 2020, and at Steel Authority of India Ltd. from 2013 to 2016. He also had the honour of serving as the Chairman of Audit Committee in the Steel Authority of India Ltd, Central Bank of India and others.
His leadership at MDI Gurgaon as Director Additional Charge during 2018-2019 and 2020-2021, and as Director at MDI Murshidabad from 2018 to 2023 and Board Member of MDI, showcases his ability to steer institutions towards growth and excellence. He was also the Member of Advisory committee of Ministry of power, Government of India and Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
Additionally, his role as Dean at MDI Gurgaon from 2006 to 2018 and as a Member of the Adhoc Task Force at the PMD Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, from 2012 to 2014, Member of State Finance Commission, Government of Bihar, highlights his strategic and administrative prowess.
In his teaching career, Dr. Atmanand has been a versatile educator, engaging with both graduate students and executives. He has conducted executive education programs for several organizations like ONGCandIndian Railways, and led open Management Development Programs (MDPs) on topics such as Energy Economics, Economic and Business Environment, and Project Finance. His ability to bridge theory and practice has made him a sought-after mentor and trainer in both academic and professional circles. Dr. Atmanand has been an expert in a range of subjects including Managerial Economics, Economic Environment and Business, Macroeconomics, and Financing and Managing Infrastructure Development, Public policy influencing countless students and professionals.
Dr. Atmanand's contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Rashtriya Gaurav Award by the IIFS, the Indian Achievers Award for Corporate Leadership by the Indian Achievers Forum, and the Excellence in Economic Development Award 2011 for Education Excellence by the Economic Development Forum. He has also received the Exemplary Global Leadership Award by the First India School of Business and an award for his contribution to the Copenhagen UNFCC’s Climate Summit COP-15 by CSRL.
Beyond individual accolades, Dr. Atmanand has played a pivotal role in institutional building and development. As the Founder Dean of the MDI School of Energy Management at MDI Gurgaon and the Founder Dean at MDI Murshidabad, he has been instrumental in establishing and nurturing these institutions. His initiative in creating partnerships and programs in energy management and policy, including collaborations with government bodies and international organizations, underscores his commitment to integrating academic research with practical policy and industry needs.
