SAA FacTOR - a unique training programme for faculty and researchers of the Built Environment (architecture, design and planning) under the aegis of Sushant School of Art and Architecture, announces the launch of its Mid-level course titled ‘A Home is not a House | To Be is to Build - An online FDP on the Teaching of Building Construction - Tools, Methods and Outcomes' from 22-27 June 2020.

Teaching of Building Construction - Tools, Methods and Outcomes

MODE: Online 

The Six-day online workshop (schedule below) focuses on Technological Advancements/ Skill development/ / Design Thinking/ Critical Thinking/ pedagogy/ orientation towards research in the subject of Building Construction and Technologies. 

·     Content development and regeneration/ Knowledge development/ delivery, tools and methods
·     Subject specific content and delivery / curriculum development
·     Exposure to new products in the market
·     Development of tools and techniques
·     Program development for studios and projects within the studio

·     Exploring the “New” today and tomorrow for the nuts and bolts of architecture.

.     Exploring the Digital Platform as the new norm for a traditional classroom its implications for building construction.

·     Understanding and addressing student perspectives and participation in this new format.

In the six-day programme, the following is the flow and ideas for each day (detailed programme attached):

Day 1: Collision – A platform for disagreements
Question: Does Design Serve Construction or vice versa?
Sessions: Two sessions would be conducted – one from an academic viewpoint and one from the purview of practice. Speakers within the session will be engineers, architects, architects-turned-engineers or engineers-turned-architects.
Open to: ALL as well as registered participants

Day 2: Teaching and Learning methods and delivery
Question: Teaching What Why When?
Sessions: Three sessions will be conducted covering a range teaching and learning styles relevant for a practical subject such as Building Construction Technologies. What should the teaching and learning style be in the current online world? Do we teach our students to be ready for practice? Is this subject an opportunity to produce practice ready students?
Open to: Registered Participants (Faculty/ educators)

Day 3: Systems, Tools and Approaches
Question: Where is the theory in the practice?
Sessions: Three sessions will cover a range of arguments around curricula, syllabi, content and tools available, both with respect to global best practices and the Indian context. The sessions will also focus on practices as well as various software used in practice.
Open to: Registered Participants (Faculty/ educators)

Day 4: Alumni Practices
Question: Have we been getting it right?
Session: Here we pick up tracks that our Alumni have taken up in their practices - From material understandings to construction technology to projects in the field (as graduates or as employers of graduates). We also look at how alumni bodies can feed back into the curricula more actively.
Open to: All especially Alumni, Students, Faculty, and Registered Participants

Day 5: Alternate Formats
Question: Are there more opportunities out there?
Session: In the three sessions, we want to get in alternate technologies, new age technologies, new age software, tried and tested methods and tools, ideas of learning by practice as against learning by doing.
Open to: Registered Participants (Faculty/ educators)

Day 6: Content and Frameworks
Question: Are we teaching the right things?
Sessions: This day will cover critical ideas around Integrated approaches to architecture, combining traditional knowledge with technology, international and national best practices in the making of buildings.

All Early/ Mid/ Advanced -career researchers and faculty in the areas of Architecture, Built Environment, Construction Technology and allied fields. 

Workshop Leaders: A large range of experienced academicians, both International and National, Practicing experts and other Eminent Architects. Detailed Schedule with leaders'/ experts' profiles will be provided upon registration.

The grand finale of SSAA FacTOR is here! We celebrate our global connections and our local frameworks of building theory, practice and pedagogy. The last two sessions of the programme will cover a range of arguments around curricula, syllabi, content and tools available, both with respect to global best practices and the Indian context.

SAA FacTOR - a unique training programme for Faculty Training Orientation Research Programme under the aegis of School of Art and Architecture, Sushant University announces the launch of a 5-day hybrid mode FDP workshop titled "Creating a Lesson Plan' from 31 August to 4 September, 2021

Focus of SAA FacTOR's Teaching and learning target:

The Five-day hybrid workshop (schedule below) focuses on the creation of a Lesson Plan with deep emphasis on Student Psychology/ Learner Centred Teaching Methods/ Role of Teachers as facilitators of learning. The workshop would cover the following:
·     Tools of teaching and learning
·     Knowledge Upgradation and Research
·     Student Psychology
·     Formulating Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria
·     Marking and assessment strategies and role and methods employed by faculty in assessing students’ understanding
·     Assessment Purpose and Tools - How to assess student work, how to design a rubrics, subjective – objective marking
·     Lesson plan and content delivery (and development)
·     Methods of Moderation and Parity
·     Communication Strategies
