Masters in Design (Interior Design)

The MDes Interior Design programme at School of Design is versatile and inclusive where students from various professional and educational backgrounds are accepted. The curriculum is designed to respect the diversity and celebrate it by allowing each individual to adapt their previous education to the Design profession. A ‘Bridge Programme’ is offered prior to commencement of the formal programme, where offered courses are designed to address any gap in skills or knowledge that the students may have post their graduation. Critical courses such as Advanced Materials & Construction, Design for Special Needs, Art Appreciation, Design Management actively engage students as they become self-reliant, well informed and multi-disciplinary visionaries and help them to use their unique knowledge for resolution of problems or recognition of opportunities around them. They develop a human centric approach to design challenges and in the process, become inclusive designers. Students proactively seek training during practice and become constantly adaptable while using the knowledge of the course as a tool to implement design ideas in real time. The curriculum develops a professional mindset through a well-designed pedagogical structure. Courses such as Dissertation (written research), Thesis Studio, Design Synthesis, Design Studios, and Construction and Services help in gaining knowledge regarding contemporary developments, including material practices, incorporation of technology and craft in design, methods and techniques for production or implementation of ideas, research flux, etc. in the field of interior design and construction to develop an intuitive and innovative approach.
