TITLE – DADAISM THROUGH LIGHTS (APPLIED HISTORY)
STUDENT’S NAME – AASHNA SHARUN
PROGRAMME – INTERIOR DESIGN
The objective was to design a line of interior products inspired by art movement – Dadaism
Inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s line of ready-mades, I was interested to a line of lighting products using found materials. His idea of taking daily neglected objects out of their intended functional space and promoting them to the level of art, Duchamp challenged the bourgeois way of seeing art.
Each of the object used come with their own history, social associations with the working classes and alternative meanings. By further using these to disperse light, both literally and metaphorically, these designs are intended to question hierarchies by simultaneously addressing arts’ capacity to respond to the society.
