Being located at the heart of the educational hub Gurugram, SPD is well-knit into the knowledge grid of the National Capital Region. This has enabled the School to offer a unique research education leading towards PhD in Planning and its allied fields.
Eligibility
The Ph.D. prospective should have a post- graduate degree in any specialisation of Planning with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks*
*As per the Government of India rules, these norms may be relaxed for SC and ST candidates.

Course description
Being located at the heart of the educational hub Gurugram, SPD is well-knit into the knowledge grid of the National Capital Region. This has enabled the School to offer a unique research education leading towards PhD in Planning and its allied fields. SPD has a vibrant learning environment and shared institutional relationships with leading Think Tanks and policy- making/enabling institutions. This, along with access to a large pool of talented and accomplished professionals, start-ups and data driven products and services in the city region, ensures avenues for academic research into new and emerging areas of scholarship. SPD ensures that the quality and rigour are maintained throughout the process of selection, trainings and the mentoring, publishing and examining of the PhD research. We promote inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary research supported by a shared intellectual environment with the School of Architecture and Design. Research trainings at SPD include the PhD Colloquium and other short courses in various aspects of research and publications. The school is currently working on creating avenues for short-term international student mobility during PhD research. SPD training is aimed at producing scholars who impact practice and policies through insightful research and proactive engagements.
