Shridhar Rao has over 23 years of experience in the field of architecture. During his tenure at Gehry Partners, Shridhar worked on many noteworthy projects that range from 6,500sqm Museum Foundation Louis Vuitton, Lehi Masterplan, a 40,000sqm Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. His project Brooklyn Atlantic Yards Masterplan over 22 acres got implemented in the New York City planning design guidelines. At Gehry Partners, he was involved in a lot of material research and assembly which nurtured his passion to explore materiality.
Prior, to his time at Gehry Partners, Shridhar worked on many mixed use and commercial projects with NBBJ in New York such as Fairfield Metro Center which involves redevelopment of a brownfield site with offices, hotel, retail and commuter terminal; Al Babtain Tower in Kuwait, The Sail Residences in Singapore, Yanlord Plaza Mixed Use in Chengdu.
In 2009, Shridhar moved to India to join Studio U+A, where he grounded his Indian experience by leading large scale high end residential projects like Vatika Sovereign Next and mixed-use retail and office complexes like Vatika Town Square in Manesar, Gurgaon. Shridhar Rao co-founded r+d studio, r + d studio a Delhi NCR and Dubai based Design collaboration dedicated to innovation in architectural practice through exploration of process and material innovation.
Shridhar holds a visiting faculty position at Sushant School of Art & Architecture, Gurgaon, India. He has a keen interest in the field of Material Sciences and has a start-up named Green ?????, where he is developing alternate building materials using 100% waste.
