Topic: Vernacularity in India

This lecture will explore the geographical and cultural implications of Indian vernacular housing, featuring case studies of diverse vernacular housing typologies from various climatic zones of India—including arid, humid, and mountainous regions.

Through this interactive session, students will gain a deeper understanding of how traditional wisdom, environmental adaptation, and local materials continue to inform sustainable architectural practices in contemporary contexts.

The lecture is designed to enrich the foundational learning of first-year students and foster appreciation for India’s rich architectural diversity.
