Short Biography (250- 300 words)
With a massive surge in global workers, India is taking big strides towards transforming its manufacturing image to a design & research image. With this quest to pioneer design thinking, it will create multiple opportunities for various design professionals to practice design and contribute to global design frameworks.
These changing economic indices amplifies the responsibility of designers to think across disciplines to arrive at solutions that would address key areas of concerns such as Ecology, Economy and Equity, over time. This is primarily where I see myself contributing as an academic, through pedagogical innovation, instilling a sense of academic rigour, user-centric research studies, multi-disciplinary approach, and design workability.
I have had the privilege to be a part of academic teaching for about 11 years now, and I feel honoured to have taught more than 2000 students in various capacities, including almost 28 design studios. My expertise sits at the confluence of Architecture and Urbanism, and I am precisely interested in the questions of how these two entities negotiate and sustain themselves in the presence of one another. My strength as a teacher and a design thinker lies in the idea of ‘critiquing the existing’.
I am ever interested in establishing the moment of the design, in the design. That’s what I teach my students!
Research Interests
I am interested in the questions of Contemporary Urbanism, Globalisation Theories, Object Oriented Ontologies and The Culture Nature Continuum. I am keenly interested to understand journeys of specific objects across space, time and cultures, and their influence on practical and tactical shifts within the human society.
