WORLD AIDS DAY

The World AIDS Day was commemorated with enthusiasm and purpose on 1 December 2023 by organizing a poster making competition and a seminar on raising awareness about HIV/AIDS at Sushant University, Gurugram by Statutory Event Management Committee (SEMC). The aim of the event was to educate and engage the public in the global fight against the HIV. The event was organised and coordinated by Prof. Amit Singh and Dr Astha Mehta.

The day started with evaluating entries where the participants unleashed their creativity to visually convey messages of awareness, prevention and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS. The colorful and impactful posters adorned public spaces, serving as a powerful visual reminder of the ongoing battle against the disease. Vidit Bhambhani, first year student of BCA from School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Sushant University won the first prize in Poster-making Competition.

Simultaneously the Seminar unfolded, featuring expert speakers who shared valuable insights on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and destigmatization. The Seminar fostered an open dialogue, addressing misconceptions and promoting a compassionate understanding of individuals living with HIV. The students were encouraged to actively participate, ask questions, and engage in discussions to deepen their understanding of the disease.

This dual approach, combining artistic artistic expression with informative sessions, proved effective in capturing the community’s attention and fostering a sense of solidarity in the fight against HIV/AIDS. World AIDS Days 2023 left a lasting impact, emphasizing the importance of education, compassion, and collective action in the global effort to eradicate HIV/AIDS.
