Sushant University, one of the best private Universities of Delhi-NCR, organized an event on December 14, 2021, to celebrate 'Gita Jayanti', the birth anniversary of Bhagavad Gita. For the last five years, the Government of Haryana has been celebrating the festival of Gita Jayanti at the International level. The event is also celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm across the country. Being the top private university, Sushant University is a stays ahead in such national celebrations.
The event organised by Centre for Soft Skills, Sushant University began with the welcome address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr DNS Kumar, who welcomed Swami Durgeshanand Saraswati ji from Chinmaya Mission as the knowledge enlightener for the event. Swamiji in his speech spoke about the relevance of Bhagavad Gita in every aspect of our life. The thought-provoking concepts of ‘Atma-Parmatma’, ‘existentialism’ and ‘dharma-adharma’ were explained in simple words for the listeners to understand the highly intellectual aspects of life. In his speech, Swami Durgeshanand Saraswati ji expressed his contentment in the initiative taken by the University to illuminate and educate the young generation about the principles scripted in the verses of Bhagavad Gita. The audience was enriched with the spiritual wisdom from the timeless teachings of Bhagavad Gita.
Encouraging the students to be an integral part of the event, Centre for Soft Skills organized rangoli competition. Students took part with enthusiasm and displayed their creativity in the form of exclusive artwork. The handmade bookmarks, with the theme ‘Bhagavad Gita’, crafted by the students, was one of the highlights of the event. As a token of gratitude, students offered Swamiji and the dignitaries with bookmarks. The creativity of the students was highly appreciated by the intellectuals.
The cultural programme, with a play and a classical dance performance by students added another colourful feather to the event. The drama on the theme ‘Aaj ke kalyug mein kal ke Krishna’ was conceptualized, scripted, directed and enacted by the students of the University. The amalgamation of life lessons from the scripture with the contemporary world showcased another dimension of students’ intellectuality.
While offering the vote of thanks, the Registrar, Dr Sanjeev Sharma drew the essence of Bhagavad Gita and its role in carving the life journey of an individual. He thanked Swamiji for illuminating the audience with his words of wisdom. With a hope to create a generation of responsible youth imbibing the philosophy of Bhagavad Gita Dr Shama concluded the event.
