The programme aims at imparting education to the next generation of Planners on urban planning principles and techniques while developing cognitive skills required to discern urban complexities. Students learn to respond to these challenges through spatially balanced and socially justified measures. With majority of the country's population living in the urban areas by 2050, it is imperative that we focus on the manner in which our cities and towns are developed. Currently, India has a major shortage of skilled urban planners compared to other similar fields and Indian cities and towns are developing at a fast pace with an opportunity to prepare professionals to be a part of this expansion. In view of this, the Master of Planning (Urban Planning) intends to educate planners recognised for their professional excellence, practical insights, and ethical practice. The programme will bridge this gap of deficit in Urban Planners and contribute in placing its graduates across the country and even globally, to fulfil the various urban sector visions.
