Blood Donation Camp

“Trust Me When I Say That People Who Give And Donate Are Happier Than People Who Receive.”

And I was able to witness this with my own eyes when I saw the people who donated blood with a smile on their face. Some people were feeling dizzy but were still satisfied that they were able to help the society in some way. On 11th march 2022, Rotaract Club of Sushant University organized a blood donation camp under the Rotaract District Initiative Mahadan 7.0on the occasion of World Rotaract Week Celebration. It was held in the University campus only, in partnership with Lion’s Blood Bank.

More than 100 participants volunteered for this good cause. A total of 94 units were collected. Everyone was given a hamper afterwards as a sign of gratitude.

Why Blood-Donation is a Good Cause?

Donating blood can be considered as one of the most noble deeds that can be done by us. One unit of blood can save up to three lives. The requirement for blood is increasing day by daywith an increase in diseases. Several lives are lost due to no supply of blood. Blood cannot be stored for a long time; therefore it is needed that healthy people donate their blood on a regular basis, in order to ensure no shortage of blood for the needy ones.

Who can Donate Blood?

Every country has different requirements for Blood Donation, but we will see the regulation in India only.

Benefits:

Donating blood is beneficial for both the receiver as well as the donor. Some benefits are:

  • It can reduce the excessive storage of iron in blood.
  • According to some studies it also reduces your chance of getting a heart attack.
  • Most importantly it helps you mentally, by giving a positive feel that you have given back to society in some way.

With this I would like to end this by thanking everyone who participated in this initiative, doctors, volunteers, rotaractors, teachers and all the administrative staff, on the behalf of Rotaract Club and Sushant University, one of the best private universities in North India which provides such opportunities. Your blood will surely save a life.

Remember that blood can be considered the most precious gift one can give to another person- “A gift of Life.”
