World Pharmacist Day is celebrated annually on September 25 in order to support initiatives that facilitate and advocate for the pharmacist’s role in enhancing health in all countries. Theme of World Pharmacist Day 2022
This year the theme of World Pharmacist Day 2022 is – “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world”
The purpose of this year’s theme is to promote even greater cooperation among the pharmacy community and to increase awareness of the significant role that pharmacists play in enhancing global health. Everyone in the pharmacy community is invited to participate in the campaign and show how strongly we are all dedicated to maintaining good health in the face of challenges like war, political or cultural tensions, or economic inequality. The third Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations addresses both communicable and non-communicable diseases, including those that affect the cardiovascular system, the lungs, and the mind (for example, HIV, tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases).
Why World Pharmacist Day is celebrated on 25th of September?
The Turkish FIP members suggested the day because it was the same day in 1912 when FIP was founded. There are more over 4 million pharmacists worldwide, and 78% of pharmacy technicians are female. They all contributed to the pharmaceutical industry’s revenue increasing to 1204.8 billion USD in 2018. It is also one of the professions that is easiest to enter. Pharmacists are the reason why patients benefit the most from their medications. They apply their expertise, knowledge, and talents to make the (medical) world a safer place for everyone. In actuality, they advise people on how to properly use drugs, encourage them to purchase them, etc.
