Program Offerings 

SAA has been offering a five-year undergraduate degree in Architecture and varied two-years M.Arch programmes.

(a)   Bachelors of Architecture

It is a five year undergraduate programme where students are exposed to a wide range of core and choice based subjects resulting in unique trajectories of learning for each. It provides knowledge and skills needed to deal with India’s regional, climatic, economic, technical and socio-cultural diversity for distinctive solutions and promoting an entrepreneur mindset. (b) Bachelors of Fine Arts
A 4- year undergraduate programme with the specialization in Painting and Applied Arts, aims at training students in both traditional techniques, developing an understanding of mediums and materials, as well as enabling them to be at par with latest technologies and shifts happening in their respective fields. The Programme focuses on holistic development of the students by incorporating a multidisciplinary approach, in terms of exploring, film and design, alternative photography, Game art, Public Art, Printmaking throughout their journey of four years. (C) Bachelors of Planning

The programme endeavours to establish the important role of physical planning to achieve the highest quality of life in the city and regional spaces, along with their growth. The programme has its roots in theories and principles of Urban and Regional Planning and endeavours to educate planners capable of responding to new age development challenges. The Bachelor of Planning (Urban and Regional) at SPD will train students to be professionals who will be able to bridge the gap between the Physical/Spatial Planning and the natural environment in order to give our immediate environs some meaning and a shared purpose, encourage a symbiotic relationship between them all, and ultimately encourage the nurturing, management and maintenance of our built and natural infrastructure. We embrace the idea of thinking, doing, telling and applying into the curriculum structure, spread across eight semesters. The studio exercises bridge between social, economic and environmental factors with planning being the common denominator.

(D) Master of Architecture in Urban Design

The programme identifies the role of the Urban Designer in redefining the 21st century urban landscape and develops new paradigms of research, practice and pedaogy to meet the challenges of urbanization with the focus on sustainability and heritage. It aims to alter the very thinking and approach with which we look at urban design in India, and intends to create thought – leaders who shall pave the way for other developing countries to follow suit.

At Sushant, we operate with various sectors of the community to empower the people by making them more informed and involved with the development of their wards. We work closely with the development authorities and professional bodies such as IUDI DNCR (Institute of Urban Designers India) and URJA (United Residents Joint Action) to provide suitable Local Area Plans for various zones in the city.

The Programme also draws extensively from international perspectives, establishing a constant dialogue with schools of excellence and eminent urban designers in India. The subjects are taught in an interdisciplinary manner along with cutting edge research and digital skills. (E) Masters of Urban Regional Planning

Urban Planning at Sushant University began in 2013 to address India’s growing need for planners amidst rapid urbanization. Despite over 7,900 urban settlements, nearly a quarter of the population resides in just nine cities, highlighting spatial imbalance. The Indian government’s urban development initiatives, from housing to smart cities, reflect a shift towards technology-driven planning. By 2031, India will need 300,000 planners, but only 5,000 are currently available.

  1. Master of Planning (Urban Planning)
