This blog is to share about my experience as an Architecture student in Sushant University. The School of Architecture has changed my perception of vision in everyday life. Meeting deadlines to all-night work, I will be sharing about the experience of an Architecture student in this university.
In the first year, we came to understand about different architectural terminologies for instance what is datum, axis, hierarchy, rhythm, repetition etc. It was initially difficult to understand as this subject is practical, but it changed my perception of looking at buildings from a traveller’s perspective to an architect’s perspective. The higher credit subjects were the Design Studio and Building Construction Studio. Each semester had something new in
store for us. I discovered how to write a research paper in a dissertation studio as our lesson plans were designed in a very interesting manner by our professors. The learning outcome in each semester was different. We also got practical exposure of Building Construction Technology where we learned about brick bond techniques, carpentry joints and site visits.
Most of the time, we wish to have more time to work on our projects before presenting it to the Jury, but that is an impossible thing to wish for. The final Jury is an intense time, and there are mixed feelings of anxiety, happiness and nervousness, but somewhere there is a sense of relief, that after all this toil and hard work, we will now be able to finally sleep. Jury is the last stepping stone in achieving our degree and this step is the most fearsome. When
our name is called and the Juror begins asking questions, we either go blank or have the ebay time of our life.
